Sally's Spiced Sugar Cookies

Ingredients


2 cup(s) all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
6 Tbsp unsalted butter
1 large egg(s)
1 Tbsp fat-free skim milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp ground cinnamon
3/4 cup(s) packed brown sugar
1/4 tsp table salt
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/3 cup Crisco Shortening Sticks, All-Vegetable

Instructions:
Using a medium sized bowl put in the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and mix together.


In a large bowl bend together the butter and the shortening for about one minute. Add brown sugar and beat with a mixer until fluffy. Add egg,milk and vanilla; beat well.

Add flour mixture and mix until well blended. Cover and place in the refrigerator to chill for three hours. Working with half the dough at a time, on a lightly floured surface roll dough to 1/8 of an inch thicknes. Cut into holiday shapes. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.


My heart goes out to all those effected by the Newtown tragedy and to all the innocent victims of such a senseless crime.

    As President Obama said, all our hearts are broken over Newtown; and I think that goes for every right -thinking person.
